Top Things to Do in Pennsylvania

Philadelphia

The Liberty Bell Center

The Liberty Bell is one of the most if not the most iconic symbol of American independence, you gotta check it out!

It’s free so be prepared for huge lines! Bring a hat during the summer because there’s no shade while waiting.

Independence Hall

Right in front of where the Liberty Bell is located is the Georgian hall where the Declaration of Independence & the U.S. Constitution were debated & signed.

It is free to visit but beware tickets are required March through December. I did not know so I wasn’t able to go in as they were sold out.

No tickets are required in January and February, or after 5pm during summer hours, Check their website for more info.

Rocky Steps/Philadelphia Museum of Art

You know that movie Rocky? The legendary training montage where Rocky runs through the streets, does some epic push ups, and then runs up some steps and celebrates?

This is the spot! You must run up and celebrate, don’t worry, people do it all the time. Like a lot of people, so be prepared for crowds.

While running up the steps and taking pictures with the statue is totally free, going into the museum is not. It will cost you $25 for adults (pretty expensive so I didn’t go in)

You can pay what you like on the first Sunday of the month (10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) and every Wednesday night (5:00–8:45 p.m.) Visit their website for more info.

Love Park / Philadelphia City Hall

This park is nicknamed Love Park after Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture which overlooks the plaza. This place is very touristy, but worth checking out. It is the City of Brotherly Love after all!

The area around here is really nice too! lots of architectural treats and sights to stay entertained.

Reading Terminal Market

This public market was has been around since 1893 and has food from all over the world!

The items here tend to be a bit overpriced but it’s totally worth walking through and experiencing the atmosphere even if you don’t buy anything.

Elfreth's Alley

America’s oldest residential street dating back to 1702!  There are 32 houses built between 1728 and 1836.

If you want to “travel back in time” go here.

Paddy's Old City Pub

Dive bar for those fans of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The creators of the show found inspiration from the locals who hang in this bar.

With that said, don’t expect anything amazing, it’s just a dive bar. Beware that smoking is allowed inside.

United States Mint

This is one of the places where U.S money is made. Money controls people’s lives so it’s definitely interesting seeing the process behind it.

Totally worth checking out and it’s totally free!

No pictures are allowed inside.

The Mütter Museum at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia

Museum of medical oddities, and home to the remains of Einstein’s brain.

Now, it’s not Einsteins whole brain but rather, slides containing slivers of his brain.

This place is a gold mine for the obscure, hidden, and strange.

Pretty expensive admission at $20 for adults (check their site for full pricing) But totally must see.

Due to the nature of the museum, children are discouraged from visiting.

Sadly, photography is NOT allowed inside.

Philly Cheesesteaks!!!

You can’t go to Philly and not eat a Philly Cheesesteak!

These are sold everywhere but just like any type of food, some are better than others.

Here is a list, I’ll let you decide which is the best.

The original Tony Luke’s

John’s Roast Pork

SQ Philip’s Steaks

Pat’s King of Steaks

Geno’s Steaks

Dalessandro’s Steaks
